Reviews

Only three British drummers were mentioned in this book. The writers could of researched the British drummers in more depth. Tony Meehan was one of the first original creative musicians to influence the British rock scene. Many drummers copied his style before Brian Bennett came along. (Having said that I think Brian was the tops) Frank Farley had a unique powerful style with Johnny Kidd and the Pirates.Bobby Elliott with the Hlollies was onother who lead the way playing rhythms that no one seemed to play previously. Many drummers copied Ringo in the early 60`s.The list is endless.I know that the American influence was certainly first in the Rock and roll drumming but some of the British drummers picked up on it and made a significant contribution as it developed from then onwards. Apart from my observations above I am still glad that I purchased this book. M J W
