It would be difficult to go wrong with the text being excerpts from Gaugin writings, and indeed the written part is fine. It is unfortunate that the illustrations are so very poor. The colors appear dim and faded and in some cases possibly guessed about at the printers. Luckily one does not purchase this book for accurate reproductions.
